Challenge
HyKin Energy lacked impartial verification to validate the technology's potential and build investor confidence.
Solution
FORCE Technology provided impartial third-party verification that the core principle works and is closer to scale-up
Result
HyKin Energy secured a proof of concept, which increases credibility and strengthens dialogue with investors and partners.
With verification from an impartial third-party, HyKin Energy documented its proof of concept and strengthened its dialogue with investors.

New green energy technology attracts attention
Since 2023, HyKin Energy A/S has focused on green energy by converting the flow of running water in streams into renewable electricity and clean drinking water. The company has developed the HyKin Pump. The technology consists of dual counter-rotating wing sets, a gearbox and a pump, providing a simple, robust and cost-effective off-grid solution.
"Globally, more than 2 billion people lack stable access to water and energy. In many of these areas, diesel remains the standard solution despite high costs, local pollution and fuel dependency. These are exactly the challenges HyKin Energy was established to address," explains Svend-Erik Ringtved, CEO and co-founder of HyKin Energy A/S.
HyKin Energy's technology quickly gained attention in innovation environments. The company was encouraged to apply for the Danish Tech Challenge via DTU Science Park, where it advanced to the final rounds and finished among Denmark's 11 best hardware start-ups.
In addition, HyKin Energy won the Investment Game Award at DTU's Startup Day, garnering recognition and attracting further investor interest.

With impartial third-party verification, HyKin Energy is ready to develop further its green energy technology and clean drinking water solution.
Third-party verification confirms proof of concept
To progress towards funding the project, the company needed documentation from an independent party. As Svend-Erik Ringtved puts it: "It is one thing for us to say that the technology works. It is another to have an impartial third-party document it." Hence, the next step was to conduct independent proof of concept flow tests with FORCE Technology in the Flume Tank North Sea under controlled, reproducible condition.
During verification, the technology was assessed for functionality and design. The tests documented that both the functional principle and the key subsystems operate as intended. In addition, FORCE Technology provided suggestions for how HyKin Energy can further develop its pump.
"Our proof of concept is now in place, and that matters a great deal to future investors. Now it is about further developing and refining the technology," says Svend-Erik Ringtved.
Transformative technological support for a start-up
As one of Denmark's GTS institutes, FORCE Technology helps small and medium-sized enterprises develop through knowledge and technology.
"It is a great pleasure to help small businesses with their need for technological solutions and impartial assessments of results. It has been an exciting task to help HyKin Energy with its measurement challenges and to contribute to evaluating its concept," says senior team leader Morten Siemoneit, FORCE Technology.
A strong foundation for the next development stage
With the documentation in place, HyKin Energy can focus on optimisation, pilot projects and scaling. In addition to the current version for streams, the start-up also wants to scale up the system for use in the oceans.
According to HyKin Energy, the technology has significant potential. "This could become something big, and we already have considerable international attention. We have received many enquiries from the Global South, for example, from embassies, Trade Councils and NGOs," concludes Svend-Erik Ringtved from HyKin Energy.
